Ramón Terol, director of the International Master in Sports Management and Development, ISDE, analyzes in the newspaper El Mundo current problems of university sport in Spain and the situation of our country´s athletes who combine their activity with college.
In a report titled American dream, written by the journalist from El Mundo José Andrés Gómez in the specialized supplement in university subjects Campus, Terol, former senior advisor to the Secretary of State for Sport in our country and member of the Academic Council of the ISDE, explains that sport can have a “great importance” in training. Regrets, however, that “the Deans do not believe that it’s a service to the university and the community, it is a tool for educational purposes.”
Terol´s article argues that the creation of an autonomous body in our country-style NCAA (National College Athletic Association), the American amateur college football, without the guidance of the Sports Council, would facilitate the launch of a system, lacking recognition, without institutional support and, more seriously, it looks like more and more students flee to foreign universities where they can progress without abandoning their passion: sports.
Ramón Terol is the director of the International Master in Management, Law and Sports Development ISDE, an exclusive and specialized program with an international and practical approach to train experts in the management and advice in a growth industry as the sport.
These days ISDE is proceeding to the admission of the candidates for the last seats available in the program.
It is a master with a combination of classroom and training through the virtual campus of ISDE to make it compatible with professional exercise, with the collaboration of prestigious firms like Osborne Clarke, Urea Menendez, Credit Suisse, Editorial Unit, Acciona Energy, Iusport, KPMG, DLA Piper, BDO, EY (formerly Ernst & Young), Axa, Marca and LG, among others.

This new master executive has a faculty of top professionals with top managers and prestigious sporting field arbitrators of the Arbitral Tribunal of Sports (CAS). Among them, Jeffrey Mishkin, former vice president and executive legal director of the NBA and managing partner of the prestigious law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP & Affiliates in New York; Marcos Motta, CAS arbitrator and member of the board of the European Football Agents Association; or Avram Grant, ex player of Maccabi Tel Aviv.
