As part of its work as a leading institution in the study of sports law, the ISDE sponsored two important international conferences related to the world of sport, where it was represented by Ms Montserrat Cordero, the ISDE’s director of Sports Law from the Admissions Department.

The first of these was a Seminar on the resolution of disputes in sports law held on May 4 in Munich at the Allianz Arena stadium, the home of FC Bayern Munich. Organised by the European Club Association and the ISDE’s partner company, Martens-Lawyers, it was attended by international specialists in sports law and former students of the ISDE’s International Sports Law LL.M. programme, who did not want to miss the event.

In addition, the ISDE participated in the 14th International Sports Law & Business Forum from May 14-16 at the Crowne Plaza St. James in London, where a number of topical issues were addressed, like doping and the organisation of major sporting events – a subject of special interest considering that the Olympic Games are to be held in the British capital. The opening address was given by Nic Coward, General Secretary of the Premier League, and the conference was also attended by Sir Ronnie Flanagan, Chairman of the ICC’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit, and Richard McLaren, CAS Arbitrator, among others.

At both conferences, many of the lawyers specialising in sports law showed a keen interest in the Global Executive International Sports Law LL.M, the annual online masters programme offered by the ISDE, which is designed for lawyers with three or more years’ experience in the area.
